The biggest struggle of the night came after the fact, when it was time to unbox the console and get everything up and running. We had to go through numerous updates, setting up a PlayStation network ID, and entering a gang of information that’s tedious as shit, especially when ALL YOU WANT TO DO IS PLAY THE DAMN THING.
The entire process probably took about an hour and a half. We were having trouble entering our credit card information, because for whatever reason, Sony wasn’t registering it. Come to find out (after reading about other people’s struggles), you have to enter the information EXACTLY how it looks on your billing statement or it won’t work.
This happened after it wouldn’t redeem our $10 dollars from PlayStation, the 30-day PSN Network trial and the 30-day free Music Unlimited subscription you get in the box. It was baffling how we couldn’t redeem codes without a credit card logged in.
But we finally got through a PS4 software update, information entering struggle, code redeeming and had a console ready for play.
