For nearly 19 years, Sony has been 4 the players joining console makers Nintendo and Sega, for the initial launch of the original PlayStation in 1994. With launches seen from the Sega Saturn and the pending 1996 launch of the Nintendo 64 at the time; Sony was questioned whether they could survive in an already Nintendo+Sega market only.
We witnessed countless consoles come and go (see: 3Do, LaserActive, and Virtual Boy on Blank Check), which put Sony in a tough position to convince the general public to their side from the big two at the time. With a nicely designed console for the presentation department, the Japanese company had countless new IP’s that soon became the biggest video game franchises of all time.
