Xbox One & Advanced Warfare control holiday ’14

We’re trying to figure out how long Activision has held the crown for highest selling video game title every year. The NPD Group has revealed the final sales numbers for December 2014, which detailed Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was the number one overall top selling game of the month and the year.

Take-Two Interactive had obvious success with the release of NBA 2K15, but Grand Theft Auto V finished as the second overall highest selling video game. While complete industry sales saw a 1% decline in sales over November, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 saw a 65% increase in comparison to its predecessors of the last-generation.

With Microsoft implementing the $350 price-point once again for all Xbox One kinect-less consoles, they will be looking to tap into Sony’s early lead with the PS4 to start 2015. Get a look at both hardware and software sales for the month ending of December, as well as the top 10 games in retail sales over the last 12 months.
