Xbox One starts the New Year as No. 2
Last holiday, Microsoft gained significant ground in North American hardware sales, ending Sony’s year-long supremacy as the highest selling next-generation console. While PlayStation 4 still has a comfortable lead over Microsoft due to its familiar price-point of $399, it returns back to its number one spot – as the most popular piece of hardware to start the New Year. However, Xbox One didn’t have a lackluster affair in January, seeing more units sold than its original entry last year with just only 140K. Software sales stayed relatively normal from December, with zombie-shooter Dying Light capping off the month as the top seller. It’s unlikely the Warner Bros. will return in March as the top overall game, with upcoming AAA-tiles Dragon Ball XenoVerse and The Order: 1886 nearing.
