PlayStation 4 remains top selling console worldwide after 6 months.
Normally, the NPD sales would’ve arrived last week on the 2nd Thursday of this month, but we saw a 72 hour delay due to the e3 pressing events. To no surprise, WATCH_DOGS finished out the month as the top selling video game, with over 4 million units sold to date.
The Chicago-based open world title has went to become Ubisoft’s biggest new IP launch ever (record previously held by L.A. Noire). Microsoft’s long-awaited price match went into effect last week, which should show some indication next month if they have any shot at catching up to the PlayStation 4 in the states. Worldwide sales to catch up to PlayStation 4 is out of the question for the Xbox One at this point, but MS has went to help of Breaking Star Aaron Paul in their latest “$399 commercial ad.” Overall sales were up 52% this year in comparison to last, but the jaw dropper is the 95% increase in consoles sold at retail over a year ago.

Nintendo’s Wii U has seen an eye raiser in the recent Killer-App release of Mario Kart 8. The Nintendo racer has seen a huge attachment rate with all consoles sold over the last few weeks, to become one of the overall surprises in gaming this year. This month sees little new releases we’re intrigued to play with the exception of EA Sports UFC 2014. Next month, we expect a similar list of titles like Call of Duty: Ghosts and NBA 2K14 to keep making NPD appearances, as the drought of quality gaming releases continue to keep us on HBO GO.
