The first is simply to experience the Audi R8, a gauntlet-on-the-pavement creation from an automaker that has racked up impressive endurance laurels at proving grounds like Le Mans, but-until recently-had failed to translate racing success into a true flagship vehicle. With R8 wait-list times stretching into the years, would-be owners are mainly left pawing the car’s slick, rectangular brochure.
