Pop, POP! Community LIVES, thanks to Yahoo.
Last spring, when news reports surfaced that Greendale Community was rumored to be coming to an end, many fans (including ourselves) weren’t ready to let the quirky comedy leave us just yet. Even in the midst of the pre-writers’ strike before its pilot even premiered, Dan Harmon’s sitcom had 5 successful seasons, we think can never be duplicated for pop culture.
NBC would eventually cancel Community three weeks after 5th season finale – but rumors for a new home at Netflix, HULU and even Amazon began to immediately spark from its cult following. Yesterday, the contracts of every cast member, developer and staff writer ending, prompting to Yahoo to emerge as the dark horse that won the battle. Yahoo! Screen has officially picked up the series for a sixth season, ordering a 13-epiodes.episode sixth season.
The series had garnered critical acclaim over the years, but time-slots to Thursday evening and this year’s XXII Olympic Winter Games hindered live viewership. Studio, Sony Pictures Television now partners with Yahoo to switch up the format some extending each episode past its original 22-minute limit for a greater online experience. Look for more details to emerge in coming weeks, including the official season 6 trailer and premiere date.
