Based on the original novel from Gone Girl creator Gillian Flynn, we’re introduced to a new mystery-thriller film, Dark Places. The movie centers on a small town orphan turned adult, Libby Day, who’s the only survivor of a massacre that took the lives of her mother and sisters. Now well into her thirties and no longer wet behind her ears, Libby starts to believe the horrific actions were part of a satanic cult and is out to solve the murder that’s haunted her for 25 years. Now aligned with The Kill Club, a group of amateur investigators (see: True Detective) out to help Libby close a chapter in her life, the new collective may not be out her best interest.
Starring Charlize Theron, Christina Hendricks, Nicholas Hoult and Chloë Grace Moretz – look for Dark Places to invade theaters nationwide this August 7, 2015.
