A Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reboot Is in the Works, with Will Smith Serving As Producer

Super fan Marc Cooper posted a trailer for a new generation version of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in March of last year and the clip went viral.

It caught so much attention that Will Smith is now planning a reboot of the series.

As you can see from the trailer, Cooper revamped the series to be a drama instead of a goofy comedy and all of the characters are in it. Uncle Phil, Aunt Vy, Jazz and Carlton all appear in the gritty 4-minute trailer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the reboot has been in the works for over a year. Quincy Jones, Benny Medina, and Will Smith, as well as creators Andy and Susan Borowitz will all serve as executive producers of Bel-Air.

Cooper will direct, co-write the script, and be credited as a co-executive producer.

Universal TV and Smith’s Westbrook Studios will co-produce the reboot, with streaming services like HBO Max, Netflix and Peacock fighting for the bidding rights.
