Just for the simple fact that David Simon (the creator of The Wire) is involved with this new HBO series The Deuce, our interests for it has immediately skyrocketed. We actually caught this teaser for the series when we were watching The Defiant Ones and it got us wondering what the fuck was up with the new show coming to the network.
As you can see from the first teaser, the drama takes place in the ’70s and chronicles the rise of the porn industry in New York City. Drugs, diseases and the real estate boom are themes of the show, as two twin brothers start working out of Times Square for the mob.
With names like James Franco, Maggie Gyllenhaal and The Wire names like Method Man (who played Cheese), Lawrence Gilliard Jr. (D’Angelo Barksdale), Gbenga Akinnagbe (Chris Partlow) and Chris Bauer (Frank Sobotka) all making appearances on the show, we’ll be tune in when it premieres.
The Deuce will air on HBO on September 10.
