Joaquin Phoenix takes the role of a drug-addicted investigator
Those of you familiar with past classics Boogie Nights and Magnolia directed by Paul Thomas Anderson are in for something special later this year. Last night, at the 52nd edition of New York Film Festival, one of the new standout releases movie goers were treated to was crime comedy-drama film, Inherent Vice.
Based on the same novel from by Thomas Pynchon, the film centers on the disappearance of a local Los Angeles land developer billionaire in the 1970s by the name of Mickey Wolfmann; who is victim to those in his inner-circle.
Along with a few questionable relationships and people working together to pull off the score, private investigator Larry ‘Doc’ Sportello tries to keep his composure while using large amounts of cocaine to solve the mystery of what happened to Mr. Wolfmann – which he happens to know the whole time.
Look for Inherent Vice releasing this December 12th in limited cities, then its expansion on January 15, 2015.
