CBS finds its suitable replacement to start 2015’s “The Late Late Show” with fresh face.
Over the last few months, NBC has become KING in the late night talk show scene, highlighted by success of both The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers. While the shows are attracting a younger demographic with familiar Saturday Night Live faces, CBS is doing everything they can to counter any success their arched-rival network is having.
During The Late Show sweepstakes earlier this year, Craig Ferguson bowed out from the network announcing his retirement. Popular London actor and presenter, James Corden has been tapped to take over The Late Late Show, and will follow-up recently announced Late Show host Stephen Colbert for a new CBS regime to pilot 2015.
Chelsea Handler, Neil Patrick Harris and John Oliver were all in contentions to land the gig earlier this year, but Corden apparently fit exactly what they were looking for.
The 35-year-old is known for having an impromptu background and an even better personality, which CBS will need heading forward to sway viewers over from NBC.
