James Corden’s Golden Ticket to Landing ‘The Late Late Show’

J.C. shows how he became the host of The Late Late Show

Last night was the premiere episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden. Following Craig Ferguson’s retirement announcement from the show in April of last year, CBS had to find somebody worthy of complementing Stephen Colbert and compete with NBC’s Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers. He even said he wasn’t worthy of the job himself, taking a humble approach to the assuming the reigns of a very exclusive TV job.

James would soon reveal to viewers the how he luckily ended up with the gig through a Golden Ticket chocolate candy bar sweepstakes CBS does once every few decades with Simon Cowell to find a new host. From Chris Rock, Joel McHale and Lena Dunham all losing out on the opportunity with purchasing the wrong chocolate bar, the original winner Chelsea Handler purchased the golden ticket but dropped it while on an important call.

Corden picked up the ticket and tried to chase Chelsea down but realized he came across a once in a lifetime opportunity. Watch more from the hilarious story above, including whether he was able to survive intense Late Late Show boot camp with Jay Leno, Meryl Streep, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Shia LaBeouf.
