The Tupac biopic has finally been revived and critically-acclaimed director John Singleton is the one to thank. He has signed on to direct, produce, and even rewrite the script of the now untitled biopic of the late Tupac Shakur. The film will be fully financed by the studio Morgan Creek and the report states that Singleton wants to get to work on the script immediately. The plan is to begin filming this summer and with someone like Singleton’s resumé, you can bet on the production of the film staying on track.
This is of course not the first work that Singleton has had with ‘Pac, as he directed the 90’s classic Poetic Justice, which starred Shakur opposite Janet Jackson. That is just one of the many great films that Singleton has worked on over the years, which include the classic Boyz N The Hood, Baby Boy & Higher Learning among others. This is a film that the masses have been waiting on for years and with Singleton at the reigns and Afeni Shakur as executive producer, it is sure to be done the right way.
The real question is who will be cast? No information has been released yet, but we are sure that Singleton will do a fine job of picking the right people for each role.
“Tupac was the guy who I planned to do a lifetime of films with,” Singleton said. “His passing deeply affected my life as well as countless people in this world. His life story is as important to my generation.”
