Despite the release of the Nike KD Vll last month, Kevin Durant’s Nike Basketball contract officially came to a close last week, starting up a crazy bidding war amongst some of the top brands in sports footwear and apparel. Baltimore-based, Under Armour is the first company making the biggest impact on KD, already rumored to have offered the star forward a $30 million a year contract, which will include his own signature model as well as a sub-line.
Another major clue that KD may be leaning towards team Under Armour is his cancellation of a three-day Nike meeting in Oregon. Also, UA senior manager Michael McBride tweeted out yesterday, “wish I could tell everyone what is going on today.”
