Lupita Nyong’o In Consideration For “Star Wars: Episode VII” Female Lead

The 51st New York Film Festival - "All Is Lost", "12 Years A Slave" And "Nebraska" Premieres

Big news on the Star Wars front today, as reports have surfaced that Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o is being considered for the female lead in Star Wars: Episode VII. Apparently the meeting between Lupita and director JJ Abrams happened before she won her Oscar for 12 Years A Slave, and he is very interested in bringing her onboard for the film. Plot details for the film are still foggy so it’s unclear exactly what the role of the female lead would entail, but landing this part would be huge for Lupita in moving forward in her career.

With a December 18, 2015 release date and filming slated to start in May, we would think they need to get the cast finalized sooner than later. One member of the cast that has been confirmed however, is Adam Driver, who will be playing the lead villain in the film. As more details become available it will be very interesting to see how the production comes together for the next saga in the Star Wars realm.
