Since its premiere at the BFI London Film Festival last October, the roll-out for Susanne Bier’s drama film Serena has been up in the air. After success in Europe last fall, Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence reunite from their previous collaborative work in Silver Linings Playbook to shed light on the Depression-era in North Carolina. Struggling to maintain his timber empire, George Pemberton (Cooper) marries his long-time love Serena, who is facing something a little more unbearable. Unfortunately for the Pemberton family, George learns that Serena cannot bear children – which makes things more complicated than their financial state. Magnolia Pictures put $30 million into the big film, which we’re hoping doesn’t go under-the-radar from casual movie goers to shed light on 1930s North Carolina.
