Movies To Watch This Weekend (November 14, 2014)

Foxcatcher

Last spring at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, many films premiered and while some didn’t get a green light to set up for a release this year, Bennett Miller was one of the few that had a well-received project on his hands. Biographical drama film, Foxcatcher (in conjunctions with Sony Pictures Classics) finally sees its North American release tonight after months of waiting. With a cast of Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, and Mark Ruffalo all playing serious roles in this new releases, we’re hoping this gem doesn’t go under the radar.

The film centers on the story of Olympic Champion Dave Schultz’s murder in 1996 but was murdered by paranoid-schizophrenic millionaire coach John du Pont – who at the time was best friend of his brother and fellow wrestling champion, Mark Schultz. While the story is over 18 years old, there’s plenty of intrigue we see for the thriller judging by its responses from movie goers thus far.
