Rosewater
Our good friend, Jon Stewart is challenging the 4th quarter with his written and directed drama film, Rosewater. Based on the memoir Then They Came for Me by Maziar Bahari and Aimee Molloy, Stewart sheds light on the 2009 incident where a London-based Iranian-Canadian journalist was detained in an Iran prison for more than 100 days.
After being brutally interrogated for months, Maziar Bahari (portrayed by Gael García Bernal) finally gets a chance to tell his story to the masses in motion picture form. The roughly $10 million dollar project has drawn much controversy from Iran State’s TV, following its rough premiere at the Telluride Film Festival in August. In our eyes, this has potential to be 2014’s Argo, but with limited budget and non-notable names, we’re hoping Mr. Stewart’s big film doesn’t fly under the radar.
