Before I Disappear
The most under-rated and possibly overlooked film releasing this weekend without a doubt is Before I Disappear. Shawn Christensen’s drama picture was originally premiered at the South by Southwest Film last March, prompting IFC Films to quickly acquire distribution rights a few weeks later.
With the film finally reaches its way to the masses, as an adaption to the Oscar-winning short film, Curfew. After receiving a random call from his estranged sister, Maggie (Emmy Rossum), Richie (Shawn Christensen) must help look for his eleven-year old precocious nice, Sophia. At the lowest point ever in his life, Richie must soon journey through the streets of NYC in a nighttime odyssey before deciding whether his life is worth living.
