Kill The Messenger
Not to be confused with Chris Rock, Michael Cuesta’s (Six Feet Under, Dexter, Homeland) drama-thriller film Kill The Messenger finally sees its theatrical release. With familiar faces in likes of Michael Sheen, Andy Garcia, Ray Liotta, Rosemarie DeWitt, Michael K. Williams, Oliver Platt, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and among others – Jeremy Renner stars in his first film as a producer. Unlike the majority of new releases this weekend, this film centers on a true story from the 1990s dealing with journalist Gary Webb (Renner) exposing the CIA’s former role in importing cocaine in the states from Columbia in order to raise money for the Nicaraguan Contras rebel army.
While many of his closest peers pleaded with him not to publish a book to the public exposing a few secrets, he finds himself being victim of the CIA in their media campaign of putting his life, integrity and most of all family in harm’s way. This is definitely a recommended movie we’re co-signing this weekend if it happens to be showing in your town for October.
