In need of an above average mystery thriller film to watch this weekend? Meet Daniel Espinosa’s Child 44 starring Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Noomi Rapace, Joel Kinnaman, Paddy Considine, Jason Clarke, and Vincent Cassel. The Lionsgate $50 million project has surprisingly gone under the radar, but the films plot is something that’s very intriguing for us to at least give a second look when checking for show times tonight.
Set during the 20th century run of Joseph Stalin of the Soviet Union, the new international affair centers on MGB Agent Leo Demidov, who’s investigating a series of strange and brutal murders of children.
Already disgruntled with his situation in the Soviet military, he’s willing to put his freedom and life on the line to protect local children. Whether the casual movie goers give this film a chance this weekend remains to be seen but it’s reviews have been a hit or a miss so far in early reviews.
