The Forger
We’re still trying to figure out how and why Phillip Martin’s long-awaited release, The Forger, is receiving underwhelming response from critics so far. The former Toronto International Film Festival standout finally sees a stateside theatrical release 19 months later after its original premiere and has the faces to possibly convince movie goers to give it a second look. Starring John Travolta, Christopher Plummer, Abigail Spencer, Jennifer Ehle, Tye Sheridan and Victor Gojcaj; the new crime-thriller centers on three generations of criminals trying to put together their biggest heist to date. Travolta assumes the role of Raymond J. Cutter, who’s a second-generation thief and is looking to get out of prison to spend quality time with his ailing son.
Coincidentally, alongside his father, the three take on a job to pay back the syndicate that arranged his release with forging a painting by Monet to steal the original work. While the three are success in the act remains to be seen, but you can be the judge tonight for the semi-intriguing affair.
