The Voices
Over a year since its original Sundance Film Festival premiere in January 2014, American-German comedy The Voices finally releases stateside tonight. Starring Ryan Reynolds, Anna Kendrick, Gemma Arterton, and Jacki Weaver, the new project focuses on mentally ill factory worker Jerry Hickfang (Reynolds), who is contemplating advice from unlikely sources. His talking cat encourages him to become a serial killer, while his dog advices him to keep living normalcy. Whether Jerry decides to listen to the evil cat remains to be seen, but his benevolent talking dog will be doing all in his best allowable power to stop his best friend. While the plot may seem over-the-top to most, it’s surprisingly received the most response from reviewers.
