Walt Disney Pictures is looking to cash out big this weekend, with the blockbuster release of Cinderella. The romantic fantasy premiered at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival last February and was met with great reviews from all in attendance. 25-year-old Lily James assumes the role of the magic slipper princess in the non-direct remake of Disney’s 65th anniversary of their legendary musical.
Also starring Hayley Atwell and Richard Madden, the updated 21st century adaption uses elements from the original 1950 motion picture but has its own spinoff to reflect some modern activity. Young Ella is without a father and sees an imminent change of tides within her finances to leave behind a cruel stepmother and her daughters behind.
