Following the success of their current TV drama series Chicago Fire, NBC decided to work on a spinoff series with the hopes of accomplishing that same feat with Chicago PD. The show will cover District 21 of Chicago’s Intelligence Unit led by Sgt. Hank Voight (Jason Beghe), where they’ll take on major crime throughout the city such as high profile murders, drug trafficking and organized crime it will also follow uniformed patrol cops who will take on the city’s street crimes. The show will star a couple of familiar faces from Chicago Fire such as Jon Seda (Det. Antonio Dawson) and Jesse Lee Soffer (Det. Jay Halstead) as well as Sophia Bush and Elias Koteas.
Chicago PD is set to premiere January 8th on NBC.
