Considering Netflix doesn’t really release data often, people are left wondering how their users use the platform. Which show is getting the most views? What series has flopped? These are questions that don’t have clear answers, so we’re left to hypothesize.
Even though the exact numbers aren’t clear, Netflix is giving folks an idea of which shows are the most binged-watched, with the newly released The Binge Scale.
As you can see below, the scale that studied about 100 shows goes from most savored show to most devoured. On one end of the spectrum, dark comedy Bojack Horseman is the most savored of all Netflix shows, meaning it takes a longer time for people to get through episodes. On the other end, The Fall, which goes down as most devoured (or binged) by users. Seasons in most devoured are usually ran through in the course of four days, compared to the savored ones, which take about six.
One reason thrillers and sci-fi series could be the most binged is because of the fact they leave viewers at the edge of their seat, with a craving to watch more. Comedies and dramas (like House of Cards) might leave users more emotionally drained, which is why they appear on the other end of the scale. Interestingly, the length of the episodes made no difference on whether viewers binged watched more or not.
