Somehow during the fall flood of new television series, we found our way at the hands of Amazon’s new comedy series, Betas. We’re not sure if it’s because we purchase almost everything through Amazon, but it’s one of our Web-TV gems in recent months. Now with NBC’s nerd-series’ Chuck and 30 Rock both gone, there was a huge void for that genre in our instant viewing rotations; not named The Big Bang Theory.
Without ruining too much, the clever series is centered on a group of friends within Silicon Valley (we love this environment) working on a social-networking companion app; which they are devoted to launching a demo version of the product, hence the title. While the group of friends have a vision for their life dream, the team must find an investor, and quick. Amazon has a long way to go before they can compete with Netflix originals series such House of Cards and Orange Is the New Black, and even Hulu; but they’re headed into the right direction.
Episodes are available to stream right now at Amazon if you have a Prime account; but those of you on fence of the series can watch the first 4 episodes for free at their site. Look for Betas every Friday on Xbox or Amazon, which you can preview the show after the jump.
