Look for ‘Star Trek 3’ in theaters July 8, 2016!
Earlier this week, Justin Lin (see: Fast & Furious Series) signed on to direct the third installment of the recently rebooted science fiction series. After being unsuccessful in landing a director with J.J. Abrams stepping down, Lin is set to bring a breath of fresh air to the franchise – which Star Trek 3 has officially been dated to hit theaters on July 8, 2016. Abrams won’t be totally away from the project, as he’ll still be a producer; but will be moving his directorial focus to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which is due out December 18, 2015.
Coinciding with Star Trek 3’s summer box office arrival, the series will also be celebrating the 50th anniversary of its original TV show. Longtime actors Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and the always lovely Zoe Saldana are most likely to re-sign for the film, with more co-stars to be revealed in the coming months.
