Michael Scott’s one of many protégé’s gets to stick around!
With FOX Networks not sure whether they would be bringing back The Mindy Project for a season 4 this fall, man fans were left unclear with cliffhanger finale last March. Show creator Mindy Kaling didn’t like the how the series was going in season three, due to uncertainty of its future and multiple time-shifts in schedules that confused fans and hindered consistent ratings. The initial Hulu partnership will see the show extended for two more seasons, with the possibility of more after obvious pending success. TBS and Bravo Networks showed interest, but Hulu felt it needed to have the project (no pun intended) on its lineup to bulk up in-house original scripted programming to compete with Netflix, Yahoo! Screen and Amazon Instant Video.
“I just think there are more stories,” Kaling told THR about jumping networks should Fox opt out. “I do think there’s more to tell, and I think fans would be disappointed not to see more adventures with these characters. But I came from a show [The Office] that I was on for eight seasons, and it continued for another year after that, so I am accustomed to long runs of television shows. I would be up for that challenge.”
