5 Things We Didn’t Like About Lifetime’s “Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B”

Generic Acting & Characters were pure comedy

When Disney star Zendaya Coleman originally pulled out of the Aaliyah biopic, it may be the best decision she’s ever done, in life. Unfortunately, Alexandra Shipp’s career may be on hold until she lands another big role to erase memory of this train wreck. She did a great job acting (not singing), but wasn’t put in proper situations within the storyline to properly showcase her talents. R. Kelly looked like Joe, an iPhone made a cameo in the ’99 and 2000 and Timbaland & Missy were both looking ridiculous – so the film didn’t feel believable at all.

Her brother also struck a huge resemblance to the homie Drizzy Drake, so his wishes of finally working with Baby Girl were somewhat fulfilled. By the time we saw the beige-version of Timothy and an anorexic version of ‘90s Missy, we couldn’t take anything serious anymore on Saturday. Black Twitter had already hijacked social media and there was nothing the Lifetime account or Mrs. Williams could do to save their investment.
