Last year, reports surfaced that Leonardo DiCaprio was in discussions for the upcoming Joker stand-alone film. Director Todd Phillips cited that the project will not be connected to the current DC Universe, as Jared Leto will sill reprise his role as the iconic villain for Suicide Squad 2.
However, Variety has revealed that Joaquin Phoenix is currently the top choice for upcoming Warner Bros. project. At the moment, both Warner and DC Films are declining to comment; but it looks like this may be the final choice.
