The wait is over!

DirectTV customers how much of a pain in the ass it has been to stream channels on apps through their satellite provider. Currently as a subscriber, it is not possible to watch any channels outside of your own WiFi network and/or through computer or phone apps. While other companies like Comcast, DISH and Time Warner have had this luxury for years, DirecTV customers have been waiting in the dark for access. That is because DirecTV has yet to negotiate a deal with TV providers and broadcasters to allow for access to streaming. They are basically the last satellite or cable provider to do so.

The light at the end of the tunnel is finally peaking its head because today it was announced that Disney, the parent company of ABC and ESPN, has stuck a deal with DirecTV to allow full access to their Watch ESPN, Watch Disney & Watch ABC platforms.

The deal also gives customers video-on-demand content for ABC, making it possible to watch their favorite shows from the network a day after they air on TV.

Other programming accessible through Amazon Fire TV, XBOX, Apple TV, Chromecast and Roku includes: ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPNU, ESPNEWS, ESPN Deportes, Longhorn Network, SEC Network and SEC Network+ as long as you sign in with your DirecTV account.

That means you can now stream Wednesday night and Friday night NBA games on your phone outside the crib, SportsCenter on your computer away from your WiFi network, a live feed of ABC on your tablet, college basketball on your XBOX One and much more. The stream runs a little behind and you will see other ads when commercials are on air, but all in all, this is a win for DirecTV customers.
