When your life crumbles, just take go on a cross-country journey by foot.
You never know how people will react when drastic life-changing events happen. If you’re Reese Witherspoon in Wild, you hikes more than a thousand miles of the Pacific Crest Trail by herself. This happened after her failed marriage and her mother died.
Of course, there was a point where she started doing heroin and acting reckless like many do when their life falls apart, but after that period in time, she takes the most irrational path to healing.
Wild is directed by Jean-Marc Vallée (who just won critical acclaim for Dallas Buyers Club) and is based on the memoir Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail written by Cheryl Strayed. The film hits theaters December 5.
