Sequels and reboots are an essential piece of the Hollywood movie game, and it appears Will Smith wants nothing to do with either. Sources say Smith has turned down opportunities to reprise his role in Independence Day 2 and Men In Black 4. According to the report, Roland Emmerich, who is directing Independence Day 2, has two scripts prepared for the film. One being for if Smith decides to join the cast and another he declines. At this point it looks like Smith won’t be in the film, though last year he had been strongly considering it.
As for Men In Black 4, sources say that Sony wants to reboot the franchise and that paying Smith and Tommy Lee Jones for the film would make it incredibly hard for it to make a profit. We could see why, because Men In Black 3 was not very good at all, and going in a new direction might just be the best thing to do. The real sequel we all want to see Will in anyways is Bad Boys 3; which has been rumored for quite sometime.
Hopefully that can get locked down this year.
