RELATED: The New York Times Presents: Alpo Martinez ‘Harlem Life Kept Calling’ (feat. Kevin Chiles)
If you remember a few months ago, reports surfaced that the first killer of Alpo Martinez was arrested. Initial reports revealed that the iconic Harlem native was shot and killed over a woman.
While the identity of the first person arrested was kept under wraps, we immediately called out bullshit on the entire situation, citing that the killer wasn’t arrested. For whatever reason, reports have surfaced that a person already locked up in Rikers Island was handed the charges.
According to a report from the NY Daily News today, Shakeem Parker, 27, of W. 149th St. was charged with the murder of Alpo. Little is known about this man, except that he was on the island for a previous gun case. Now, the NYPD and NY detectives felt they gathered information, that Parker was indeed the shooter of Mr. Martinez. T
he 27-year-old has been charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon. The October 31st shooting of Alpo was still left with many questions, including why there was zero sign of blood and those on hand going out of their way to say he was throwing bags of heroin out of his truck after frantically trying to make it to the hospital.
Considering glass from his driver’s window wasn’t clearly broken, it would be impossible for somebody to shoot that high into the air with precision up close. The NYPD cited that Po was hit six times in his arm (one grazing his left chin) and once in his chest.
The incident on Frederick Douglass Blvd. near W. 152nd St. remains one of the biggest mysteries, as public and private surveillance cameras would’ve caught the entire situation. However, after hearing information from one of his son’s, the family was never granted permission to view his deceased body.
According to authorities, Alpo’s body was allegedly cremated; but you can make your own judgement here.
