Disclaimer: We’re going to let you know off the bat, this interview is almost an hour long. If you have 55 minutes to spare, please do yourself the favor and watch this.
Without knowing what to expect, we watched this “Back and Forth” with Pharrell and Henry Rollins and were completely drawn in to his story. Who is Henry Rollins, you ask? You will learn so much about him after watching this clip. Not only did join the punk band Black Flag and toured with them as their lead singer in the ’80s, but he is an actor who has appeared in TV and film, has served as a radio show host, and most recently, been a human rights activist that visited troops overseas through the USO.
The two part interview explores Henry’s story, from how he joined Black Flag (he recalls encounters with elitist punk fans in the early ’80s during his days on tour) to the influence he received from Dionne Warwick and Gladys Knight at a young age. He also reveals to Pharrell his distaste for drugs and alcohol during his High School days.
In part two, he dives deeper into his activism, telling a very touching story about his experience with a war veteran who had suffered loss to 60% of his brain. Skateboard P also played a game of word association with him and Henry gave his two cents on various topics ranging from immigration, gay marriage, government control and drugs.
Check out the second part of their very interesting conversation below.
