The Midwest has contributed some of the most notable artists to the Hip Hop movement from Common Sense, Kanye West, Twista, Nelly, to groups such as Do or Die, Crucial Conflict, to one of the biggest selling rap group of all time Bone Thugs ‘ N Harmony hailing from the birth place of one of the most talented MCs Beez Portiya.
Born Donté Beasley from East Cleveland, Ohio, Portiya began to develop the skill for rap at age 17 and soon began recording and collaborating with a partner, The duo named after the city’s area code forming the group “216” captured the attention of musical veteran Derek Jackson which would lead to a deal with Universal Records but due to creative differences, Beez Portiya decided a solo career was in his best interest.
In the current state of music, where record sells are determined by the click of button, the Cleveland MC is solo and having dropped hot singles “White Girl” and current radio favorite, “Antedope”, is ready to take the game by storm.
