Jake One‘s beats have been all over popular track over the past year. One of his latest placements was on DOM Kennedy‘s recently released album by DOM Kennedy, in which Jake produced three songs on. Serving as the intro track, the veteran beat-smith breaks down how he produced “Daddy,” explaining that he’s been wanting to work with DOM for quite some time, so it was almost a long time coming. After an event, DOM came to the studio, where the two linked up for the first time and Jake says he played DOM a total of five beats and ended up using three. He breaks down the beat, showing that it started with a sample, with the addition of a snare, shuffles and symbols he used from the “Snare Jordan 3” beat kit. To finish it off, Uno added the bass line to the track as well as sound he described as a “wa-wa” and a few other components that finalized the beat to DOM’s liking.
