Watch Big Sean’s CRWN interview with Elliot wilson
Before closing out the Friday night edition of SXSW last weekend, Big Sean sat down with Elliot Wilson for the next installment of his CRWN series. Fresh from the release of his third studio album Dark Sky Paradise, Sean opened up on his vision for the project and not having much time to hear out the project during its flow process. Elliot brought up the controversial Control track he decided to release in 2013, saying it helped for a healthy competitive spirit in hip-hop today with himself, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, J. Cole and others.
He went to open up on recording Dark Sky Paradise in the comfort of his own home, including visits from Kanye West, Common, Mike WiLL Made-It, John Legend, Jhené Aiko and Chris Brown among others. Watch more from the interview, where he touches on the premature release of his Detroit mixtape, calling the body of work an album and deeper connection with fans of the motor city and how Hall of Fame didn’t have success like other efforts.
