Charlie Puth is poised to be a star. Before writing the “See You Again,” a collaborative song with Wiz Khalifa in which he also has featured vocals on — which ultimately landed him his first number one single — the singer-songwriter was just a kid uploading his acoustic covers to his YouTube channel. Then one day he was signed by Ellen to her eleveneleven record company, although nothing came of that, it was a stepping stool for what things to come. Now, signed with Atlantic Records, Puth is ready to launch his music career and reach higher levels we’re sure he’s always dreamed of.
That starts today with the release of his debut EP, Some Type Of Love. The project comes fit with the previously released singles “I Won’t Tell a Soul” and the Meghan Trainor assisted “Marvin Gaye.” Throughout Some Type of Love, you’ll hear taking on a soulful vibe as that’s the tone he wanted to set with this record saying in an interview with Billboard. “I listened to a lot of Marvin Gaye and Motown records. When I was making my record, I just wanted to make this soulful sound. When Marvin Gaye made his music, he evoked this feeling that would reach everybody. Now, my record is also actually a musical assistance record.”
