This single by Damian Marley was released earlier this month, and we were sleepy with it. Mostly because it dropped on TIDAL. Luckily, the video has opened our eyes all the way up because the scenes from it are powerful. Not one to shy away from political and social discussion, Marley can be seen nailed to a telephone pole in “Nail Pon Cross,” along with a police officer, Muslim man, a young black man and a Latino.
His message is for society to stop judging others and crucify stereotypes in the media. He’s not at all trying to portray the image of Jesus Christ in the clip, but rather show that people are crucified in different ways in our era.
Marley’s Stoney Hill album will be out October 28.
