Decoded: Pharrell on “The Black Album”

With JAY Z‘s The Black Album 10th Anniversary nearing (November 14), Pharrell took the time out to express his feelings on Hov and talk about his work on the classic project. He admits that he never thought he’d work with him after hearing “Can I Live” off Reasonable Doubt, but their relationship came from knowing what inspired certain songs.

Contrasting what his work on Magna Carta Holy Grail in “Oceans,” he says he wanted to give Jay something more emotional on “Allure.” He’s still amazed at the fact Hov doesn’t write anything down, he says his lyrics project vivid colors and imagery.
