Deconstructed with Dot Da Genius: The Making of Kid Cudi’s “Day ‘N’ Nite”

Last month marked the 10-year anniversary of Kid Cudi‘s classic mixtape, A Kid Named Cudi. To mark the occasion, Cudder’s right-hand man, Dot Da Genius, recently sat down with Genius to break down the making of the iconic “Day ‘N’ Nite.”

Dot explains how he met Cudi through a mutual friend at Abercrombie & Fitch, which led to them working together and throwing up music on MySpace. “Day ‘N’ Nite” started off with the hook, with Dot pairing it with a sound that provided melody and rhythm. The drums and claps even came from a CD he got from Bed–Stuy through a Craigslist post.

It’s a must-watch.
