DJ Akademiks Flagrant 2 podcast beef is examined, after some comments have been made about the Joe Budden Podcast and New Rory & Mal. Following the unfortunate passing of King Combat Jack, the hip-hop podcast world was left with a huge void, for having someone with integrity cover the culture. There, we saw the immediate rise of Taxstone and then Joe Budden.
While Tax is dealing with his own issues on inside, this allowed Buddens to completely takeover the game, landing a show with Complex’s Everyday Struggle and partnering up with Puffy at REVOLT. That opened the door to broker a deal with Spotify, as the JBP Boys thought they were in position to negotiate the type of money Joe Rogan would get.
Unfortunately, that business partnership ended, with Joe Buddens disgruntled about the podcast’s worth for himself and immediate inner-circle. In the midst of Buddens having the crown, others like Charlamagne and DJ Akademiks were watching his rise to acclaim and had issues with both Rory and Mal.
It got to the point, where a physical altercation was pending with two people involved in the entire fiasco; after personal claims were made public. So, with Akademiks bringing light to a situation with Rory and saying some very disrespectful things, Joe, shrugged off the situation. Many felt this caused friction with Rory and Mal and their former business associate, Joe Budden.
So, Joe Budden essentially picked Akademiks over both Rory and Mal; which is baffling from a loyalty standpoint. After Rory and Mal left the podcast and watching Joe fire their invisible ghost on set last spring; an immediate smear campaign happened against Budden. This caused Ak to separate himself from Joey completely, and throw him under the bus.
We weren’t shocked by the notion from Ak, considering he’s been the right-hand guy of Charlamagne. This week, he made an appearance on Flagrant 2 with Andrew Schulz and Akaash Singh, who were very vocal about criticizing Joe Budden’s business tactics are the Spotify exit.
It went as far as them clowning Buddens on the episode, with Ak not saying anything. While New Rory & Mal are the new kids on the block getting significant attention from the public, we expect Joe Budden retain viewership with the type of content of he creates. Take a look at media below.
