The Finisher keeps things honest
DJ Mister Cee unexpectedly left Hot 97 on November 21 and it shocked everyone from fans to those in the building who worked with him for years. In this sit down with Karlie Hustle (who used to work at the station as well), Mister Cee explains that he made the decision from one night to the next and he didn’t tell anyone but his boy about it.
After running through legal troubles for solicitation of prostitutes, there were several instances where The Finisher almost left the legendary Hip-Hop station, but he says Funkmaster Flex is the main reason why he remained at the company and kept pushing through the storm.
He doesn’t regret leaving, because he feels like he did it on his own terms and it felt right. He had no backup plans, no jobs lined up with any other radio stations and didn’t know what he was going to do for the first few weeks of him leaving, but being a hustler he managed a way. Ultimately, he found a spot at Radio 103.9 and got back on his feet.
Interestingly enough, Cee opened up about finding love and why his past trouble still affect him. He claims to still have urges to go out and do what he once did, but hasn’t since. He’s been going to therapy to work on it and attributes what he did to his last girlfriend. The hardest moment in his life was breaking the news to his grandmother and aunt, almost a year after the controversy.
