DMX interview with The Breakfast Club
On the verge of releasing a new album later this year with Swizz Beatz, DMX made a special return to the Breakfast Club this week. In the hour-long conversation above, the legendary rapper spoke on his recent health scare, where his heart stopped beating for four minutes after an asthma attack – not a drug overdose that many believed. He went to explain how the higher power preserved his life a few months ago, in giving him another chance at getting a message out to the masses.
He also touched on having a conversation with Drake a few months ago, where the Toronto rapper reached out to pay homage and get a clearance sample for his VIEWS album. Their alleged rift originally stemmed from his 2012 interview at Power 105, where he publicly said he didn’t like anything about the OVO member – including his voice, lyrics and even the way he walked.
This prompted him to address a previous fallout with JAY Z during 2005, but said he couldn’t hold a grudge with him after an entire decade had passed. He’s open to the idea of the two eventually having a sit-down, but is focused more on his continuing his music and acting careers.
Speaking of which, he closed out the interview sharing first Belly 2 details (Ox wants to come back from the dead), where he’s got Nas and Method Man on board to film a sequel very soon.
Watch more from the conversation, where he speaks on relationship with Dame Grease (Free Max B), admitting to battling drug addiction during his biggest career moments and staying in his lane.
