Dr. Dre to Donate Royalties From Album to Compton Arts Center

Dr. Dre is on the heels of releasing his first album in 16 years, and instead of pocketing the sales it will generate (because he has enough cash already, right?), he is looking to give back to his city like never before. During his talk to Zane Lowe on Beats Radio 1, the producer revealed that the royalties from Compton will actually be going towards funding an Arts Center in Compton.

Dre will partner with Compton city mayor Aja Brown to bring the project to fruition after she pitched him the idea that was already in the works. The good doctor has been wanting to do something for the city for a while, he just didn’t know what it was, so he decided this would be it.

Compton will premiere on Beats 1 Radio tonight at 9pm EST, uncut and uncensored and it will drop on iTunes and Apple Music tomorrow. You can expect the likes of Xzibit, Ice Cube, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, The Game and more on Dre’s “grand finale.”
