RELATED: A Look into the Samples on Drake’s ‘More Life’
Following the release of his More Life playlist last week, Drake has officially scored his seventh no. 1 project on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Following its March 18th launch, the project earned 505,000 equivalent album units sales in just five days, Nielsen Music.
Due to a digital only release, More Life is down from his 2016 release of VIEWS, which nabbed 1.04 million units in its opening week. The project previously held a music streaming record, with 245.1 million song streams in its first week. However, the 6-God shattered his own milestone, achieving 384.8 million streams of songs from the 22-track effort.
With Ed Sheeran’s ÷ (Divide) currently holding largest sales for any new album this year, Drizzy’s OVO Sound playlist project will have a chance to make ground when its physical CD and vinyl LP editions release this Friday, March 31st. He now ties Kanye West and Eminem for the second-most no. 1 albums among hip-hop artists – trailing only rival JAY Z, who has 13.
