An original affiliate of Team Roc is facing life behind bars

Six years ago, Kareem ‘Biggs’ Burke was arrested on charges of helping distribute 100 kilos of marijuana within the greater New York area. While the original co-founder of Roc-a-Fella Records soon pleaded to a lesser sentence of only five years, a fellow associate who helped launch the career of Jay-Z, is facing some serious time behind bars. Manuel Geovanny Rodriguez-Perez, aka Shorty, reportedly ran a massive racketeering organization – highlighted by violence and money laundering.

According to the NY Daily News, El Monstruo pleaded guilty to one count of racketeering conspiracy in Manhattan federal court, as well as admitting to nine murders and 10 attempts through his span in the streets. Before Biggs was arrested in 2010, undercover agents spotted him allegedly loading money into Perez’s BMW in exchange for product.

After copping a plea to the nine murders yesterday, Manuel’s lawyer, Richard Ware Levitt, said he’s accepted responsibility for the actions and is just awaiting an imminent sentence.
